Star was BOW for 2 pts at his first show at 7 months old, and then mostly stayed home until the 2000 National Specialty. After his debut in the 9-12 class at the National, the judge, Richard Beauchamp, had this to say about him: "Absolutely terrific on his legs, flawless movement, overall good balance and proportion, nice length of neck blending into a well-made front, excellent head and expression, good dark eye." Upon returning from the National, Star quickly picked up a major from Puppy Class, 2 more majors, a BOB over 12 Specials, a Group placement, and finished -- all by 13 months old.
As a young sire not yet 3 yrs old himself, obviously most of Star's puppies are still in Puppy Class. However, they are starting very well: at least 4 now with majors from Puppy Class, several others pointed, 3 with Sweepstakes BOB's, and a Best Puppy In Show. One is a Philippine CH, and his first litter for Leader Dogs is in training.
